Our project partner, the University of Zittau/Görlitz, presented the Edge-Vision project at this year’s OMZ 2024 (organized by TGZ Bautzen). The OMZ is a key event that fosters knowledge exchange around technology and innovation in SMEs. This year, the focus was on software and AI solutions aimed at increasing efficiency in production—a perfect fit for the goals of Edge-Vision.
What is Edge-Vision?
Edge-Vision is an innovative research project focused on developing AI-powered image processing solutions using Edge Computing. Edge Computing allows data processing directly at the source (at the "edge" of the network), saving valuable time and energy that would otherwise be spent sending data to central data centers. In combination with Artificial Intelligence (AI), these technologies make production processes more efficient and intelligent.
The Edge-Vision project is working on creating a high-performance and energy-efficient Edge-AI platform, designed specifically for use in dynamic production environments. Real-time, decentralized data processing enables faster response times and optimized resource usage, significantly improving production efficiency.
Why is Edge-Vision important?
As Industry 4.0 and AI-driven production processes gain momentum, advancing technologies like Edge Computing is crucial. Edge-Vision aims to establish an internationally leading network in this field and position the region of East Saxony as a hub for Edge-AI innovations.
These technologies lay the foundation for more sustainable, efficient, and intelligent production. In industries that rely on real-time data, Edge-Vision offers solutions that reduce costs and energy consumption while enhancing production speed and quality.
